5 reassuring reasons to book me as your Bridal Makeup Artist

Choosing your bridal makeup artist can be a daunting task. Social media is saturated with wedding supplier accounts – all trying to promote their work. Where do you even start? How do you choose the supplier that fits with your vision and your budget?

Many of my clients have booked me previously for occasion makeups so we already have a connection when they get engaged. Quite often, brides will book me because I have done their makeup when they were a bridesmaid at a wedding I worked on.

There are many amazing wedding suppliers out there so if you are starting from scratch, I recommend doing some research and look for accounts that resonate with your personal style. With bridal makeup, choosing a Makeup Artist with expertise and experience is absolutely vital. After all, this is one of the biggest days of your life… and you will be photographed from day to night. It’s important to hire a supplier you can trust to create a look for you that feels wearable, will photograph well and gives you an amazing feeling of confidence.

Makeup style varies from artist to artist. If you are a minimal makeup wearer, I would suggest avoiding a Makeup Artist who posts heavy looks because this is unlikely to fit your comfort levels. Do you want to walk down the aisle looking completely different to your normal self? Probably not. Most people want to feel like the very best, polished up version of themselves.

I also recommend looking for makeup accounts that show clearly unedited work – straight from the camera. These days, editing photos is easy and common place unfortunately. While some images in a Makeup Artist’s portfolio will be edited because they will be photographer’s images, a trustworthy portfolio should also show snaps of work showing real client work. I have a personal policy never to edit my client snaps. It’s important for my clients with acne, rosacea, skin texture, pigmentation issue to be able to see other clients with issues like themselves. Makeup is wonderful for adding some glam and boosting confidence but it’s a product, not magic! If you are a person who has texture in your skin for example, the texture will still be there unless the image has been smoothed out – and that’s not realistic. Managing expectations is a huge part of being a trustworthy makeup artist so don’t get swept away looking for perfect makeup accounts… look for a supplier that shows a variety of client skin types, textures and tones.

Having spent 10 years working none stop in the wedding industry I definitely have a wealth of experience doing bridal makeup. My bridal clients typically book a year to 2 years in advance so its never to early to secure your date as my diary fills up quickly for peak dates. I thought I would share 5 useful reasons why you should feel reassured booking me as your bridal makeup artist.

Also, I wanted to tell you about my personal experience as a bride booking a bridal makeup artist. That experience shaped how I wanted develop my style for my own clients when I did my professional training.
