It was an exciting start to the week, picking up 3 new awards at the national English Makeup Awards 2024!
At the end of last year I was delighted to be shortlisted in 2 categories at the national English Makeup Awards. I previously won the Freelance Specialist Makeup Artist of the Year for both the North East region and overall UK in the same awards back in 2023 when the ceremony took place in Birmingham. I definitely didn’t expect to win again this year.
The judging process
Once the shortlisting took place, I had to submit a portfolio evidence of my work, client testimonials, social media and answer questions about my business – all of which went to the judging panel. Judging took place over a few months and last Sunday evening, the winners were announced!
2 regional wins and 1 national win over 2 categories
A regional win is such a huge achievement in this industry – but a national win is absolutely amazing! The beauty market is absolutely huge and I am always grateful for the clients who choose me for their makeup requirements. So what did I win?
I won the regional award (North East) for Freelance Specialist Makeup Artist 2024/25 as well at the national award (Overall UK) for Freelance Specialist Makeup Artist 2024/25.
I also won the regional award (North East) for Creative Makeup Artist 2024/25. Creative makeup is a huge passion of mine. It’s not something I get to do day-to-day with clients however I do love creating looks for fashion shoots and beauty campaigns. It is important to be able to think outside of the box when it comes to creative work and it has brought many interesting opportunities for me.
So these 3 new awards total 17 industry awards for me since setting up my own business 9 years ago. I am hugely grateful to my clients for keeping me busy all this time and I always appreciate every lovely message or review left for me. It is so important for small businesses to receive feedback so that they can be shared with new clients. In a hugely saturated market, reviews and allowing us to take photos from your bookings help us continue to grow our clientele.
About me and my makeup services
I have been a Makeup Artist for 9 years and I am trained in all aspects of makeup artistry from bridal makeup, occasion makeup, theatre and media makeup including special fx. About 6 years ago I added microblading to my list of services plus a few other beauty treatments but my services start and end only on the face. I wanted to specialise in make up artistry rather than beauty treatments and these days I spend most of my working weeks working as a wedding makeup specialist, making women feel amazing for special events, teaching people how to apply their own makeup more confidently and of course microblading eyebrows. My studio is in The Palace Hub in Redcar but I do travel for bridal makeup bookings as well as commercial jobs.
The services I offer are;
- Bridal makeup
- Occasion makeup/prom makeup
- Microblading
- Makeup lessons
- Lash Lift/Lash tints
- Fluffy brows (brow laminations)
- Beauty/Fashion campaigns (commercial work)
