Bride Sophie’s brief
When I met Sophie at her wedding trial, chatted about the kind of look she wanted – which like most of my brides – she wanted to look like an enhanced version of her natural self. As a new mum, Sophie wasn’t used to wearing a lot of makeup due and tended to stick to mineral makeup in her own personal makeup kit (which tends to be a common with makeup wearers who prefer the more natural look).
Colouring and complexion
Sophie’s complexion was naturally pale with beautiful freckles and she had great skin so I suggested a glowing base to it off.. This is always my preference to be honest. Her auburn hair and blue eyes made it easy for me to know which tones would suit her best.
Bronze/soft brown/gold
With Sophie’s colouring and eye colour, I suggested to with bronze/gold tones on the eyes. The bronze/soft brown would compliment her hair colour and a hint of gold on the golds would make her blue eyes really pop in colour.
Don’t be afraid of darker shades
Even though I was using browns and bronze tones on Sophie’s eyes, the whole look was very soft. She had a subtle smokey eye effect without looking “too made up”. Her overall look was very classic and actually quite simple. Just beautiful blends of complimenting tones and some lashes to add a little length and volume.
Keep it simple
Bridal makeup doesn’t need to be complicated. Hiring a makeup artist doesn’t mean you have to get your money’s worth by having a highly creative look. The skill you are actually paying for your makeup artist to make you feel your very best – whatever look might be and whatever is comfortable for you.
Some of the most beautiful makeup I see is actually a simple look. No fuss, no complicated techniques… just elegant beauty – focussing on bringing out the eye colour, or showcasing beautiful skin etc.
